District Collector Dr. N. Prabhakar Reddy proudly announced that Parvathipuram Manyam district has created a record as the first district to make Surya Namaskar mandatory for every school student in Parvathipuram district.
The Collector expressed the hope that Manyam district may be the first in the world to make Surya Namaskar mandatory in schools.
The main celebrations of the 12th International Yoga Day under the joint auspices of the AYUSH Department and the district administration were held on Sunday morning with great pomp at the Government Junior College grounds in Parvathipuram district headquarters. The District Collector participated as the chief guest for this program and officially inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the lamp along with District SP S.V. Madhav Reddy.
Later, he addressed the yoga practitioners. He praised that more than one crore people across the state performed yoga asanas simultaneously on the occasion of Yoga Day, creating a new world record, and it was a matter of pride for the people of Manyam district to be a part of this grand program. On behalf of the people of the district, he thanked the Chief Minister of the state, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, for providing the opportunity for this grand program.
He said that by making yoga a part of daily life, one can adopt a stress-free and healthy lifestyle. He reminded that yoga is not just an exercise, but a priceless health gift provided by our culture. Later, the District Collector and District SP presented mementos and certificates to those who won 12 medals at the state level in the Yoga Andhra program, the winners of the district level competitions, and the district officials who made the program a success.
